About Xezaki

Xezaki has been fitting stretch ceilings for homes and businesses in Birmingham since 2015. We are a team of 14 people covering 7 districts across the city, and this page explains how the company started, what we do differently, and how we work with customers who ask questions before they book a fitting.

How the company started

Xezaki was set up in 2015 by two fitters who had spent years working on standard plaster ceilings and kept getting asked about the stretch ceiling systems they had seen used in other European countries. At the time, few installers in the West Midlands offered this service, and most homeowners had only seen it in photos. The founders started small, taking on a handful of residential jobs a month while learning the welding and fixing techniques needed for a clean finish.

Over the following years the workload grew steadily. What began as two people with a van is now a team of 14, and the company has completed 2,280 jobs in total. Many of these are repeat customers: 478 clients have come back for a second room, an extension, or a different property altogether. On average we take on around 140 new clients a year, which has added up to 1,540 households and businesses served since 2015.

Mission and how we see the work

Our aim is straightforward: fit a ceiling that stays flat, keeps its colour, and does not need touching for years. We are not trying to sell the most expensive material or upsell features a room does not need. If a matte finish suits a study better than a gloss one, that is what we recommend. If a client only needs one room done rather than a whole floor, that is the quote they get.

We also try to answer questions plainly. A stretch ceiling is a PVC or fabric membrane heated and fixed to a perimeter track below the original ceiling — it is not a paint job and it is not permanent in the sense that it can be removed and reused if a property is renovated later. Explaining this clearly, before any deposit is taken, is part of how we work.

Clear pricing

Quotes list the material, the track type, and the labour separately, so clients can see where the cost comes from before agreeing to a date.

Realistic timelines

Most residential fittings are finished in a single visit lasting between two and five hours, depending on room size and the number of light cutouts needed.

Straight answers

We reply to enquiries within about 8 hours during working days and tell clients honestly if a job needs a second visit or specialist wiring first.

Experience across 11 services

Over 11 years the company has built up 11 separate services around stretch ceilings, from single-colour matte fittings to multi-level designs with built-in lighting channels. Each fitter on the team has worked across most of these before being trusted to run a job alone, and jobs are still checked by a second person before the client signs off.

We keep working in the same 7 districts of Birmingham rather than expanding the radius further out, mainly because it lets us schedule jobs back to back without long drive times, and it means we know the older housing stock and newer developments in these areas well enough to flag likely issues — damp corners, uneven original ceilings, or wiring that needs attention — before the fitting date.

Questions we are often asked

Do you only work on new-build properties?

No. Most of our jobs are in older Birmingham homes with uneven plaster ceilings, which is actually one of the main reasons clients choose a stretch ceiling — it covers imperfections without a full re-plaster.

How long does the material last?

The membranes we fit are rated by manufacturers for long-term indoor use and do not need repainting. We can go through the specific warranty terms for the material chosen during a site visit.

Can you match a service to a small budget?

Yes. Of our 11 services, several are aimed at single rooms rather than whole properties, and pricing is quoted per room so there is no obligation to commit to more than one space at a time.

Is there a call-out charge just for a quote?

No charge applies for an initial assessment. Full details of how quotes are put together are on our services page.
